One of the best things about the PS5 is that its storage space is so easily extendable, as Sony’s opted against a proprietary solution for its new-gen system, instead allowing owners to either attach a bog-standard external HDD for PS4 storage or an NVMe SSD for PS5 storage. While both options are falling in price rapidly, this Black Friday is arguably the best time to consider splashing out on some extra room.
As part of our Black Friday guide, we’ve compiled a list of the Best PS5 SSDs available, many of which are discounted for this seasonal period of savings. In fact, you can pick up an additional terabyte of storage space for little more than $100, which represents outstanding value for money. Don’t worry about installation, as it’s really straightforward – in fact, you can learn How to Install a Compatible M.2 NVMe SSD through the link. Motorcycle Exhaust Round Muffler

If you’re just looking for extra room for PS4 games, then an external HDD will get the job done, and fortunately we have a list of Best PS5 External Hard Drives, too. Remember, these will also work on a PS4 if you’re yet to upgrade your console. You can find out How to Use an External Hard Drive on PS5 through the link.
Will you be picking up any storage space upgrades for your PS5 this holiday? Do let us know in the comments section below, and remember you can find way more deals in our Black Friday guide.
A true PlayStation veteran, Sammy's covered the world of PS gaming for years, with an enormous Trophy count to prove it. He also likes tennis games way more than you.
When I finally buy a PS5 or PS5 pro I am not buying anything extra. Those consoles should be as cheap as possible to be worth it. Especially with PC ports on the horizon.
I bought a 2TB SSD for £169.99 last Friday and I don't regret it. No need to worry about storage for all the upcoming releases, and games download so much faster. I redownloaded Elden Ring and that took around 3 hours for me originally, with the SSD it only took 35 minutes. I recommend picking one up if you want more space and better download times
@Sam_ATLUS Yeah, it's definitely a great upgrade, and even better now the prices are reasonable again.
@Hindenburg Don't want to burn your hopes like the Hindenburg but there has been no mention whatsoever about a PS5 Pro (unless its hiding in a shipping container along with the elusive Switch Pro)
Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Heatsink is currently £98 in Argos & Amazon.
@Smiffy01 Sony and Nintendo should try to keep those systems under wraps for as long as possible. It will result in more sales overall.
Want to feel FOMO? There were a couple of misprices on stores selling the 1TB WD SN850 (with a heatsink) for £37.34. There was another for the non-heatsink version for about £19.99. Boy do I wish I got one of those!
@Hindenburg Its not them though its the general gamers consensus that they can magically predict the next console revision in line just because of whats gone before (ps4 - ps4 pro) only one case of a pro iteration of a sony console in their entire history (slims dont count as they are mainly asthetic)
Whoa SSD storage went down in price quickly. Wasn't people asking nearly a grand for 4tb storage when it first was available for PS5?
Sony absolutely went the right direction with their external SSD storage...a lot cheaper than others
I found a good deal on Corsair’s MP600 Pro LPX 2TB. My internal storage has been maxed out for quite some time so I’m looking forward to not having to manage it all the time.
@Hindenburg well you should probably wait till after the PS6 comes out before you get a PS5...it'll be at its cheapest point then
@uptownsoul Nah that makes no sense. By the time PS7 is out I will be able to pick up a PS5 for basically free.
@uptownsoul 100% and there hasn’t even been a sale on Xbox over Black Friday. 1TB is still £185+ you ,can get 2TB on PS5 for that. I know I’ve been waiting, watching patiently
SSDs are far too expensive for me to justify a purchase I'll wait until they're as cheap as HDDs
I picked up a Seagate Firecuda 530 (1TB) for $120 a couple days ago. Should be here at the end of the month.
Tempted by this! Just reached max capacity on my ps5 and had to transfer my backlog to an HDD. Double drives for double the games 🤷
I picked up an Adata S70 blade for about £190 a couple of weeks back and it's a solid performer. It's great to see SSD prices falling now.
@Sam_ATLUS I seem to be confused, how does increased/extra storage space or it being a SSD translate to faster downloads?
Especially when the PS5 already has a SSD installed.
@KidBoruto The internal PS5 storage has a read/write speed of 5,500 MB/s. SSD drives can have a higher speed of up to 7,000 MB/s, for example my PS5 SSD is from Western Digital and has a read speed of up to 7300 MB/s. So with a higher speed it makes for much faster times when it comes to not just downloading games but the loading times when playing them
@Sam_ATLUS Ah I see, so you mean the better SSDs are able to use more of your true download speeds from whatever internet plan you have?
That makes sense, thanks for the reply! Also if it's the same read/write speed between drives, does it make a difference what size SSD I get?
Besides being able to store more games I mean.
Could do with one of these SSDs as there's no space left on my PS5. I do have an external HDD though for storing games, not as convenient for storing PS5 games as the SSD
